STORY OF SEAGULL

Seagull is a bird, this particular one distinguished itself from others by answering the name Jonathan livingston seagull.

He sets the following life goal for himself

• I will fly where a seagull has never flown before

• I will sea every land, every ocean

• I will know all there is to know of this life.

You might say what a challenging goal. That it is

To start with, he wanted to learn to soar and fly great distance against the belief that seagulls don’t soar. Seagulls in his age group spent much of their time competing for food scraps. Jonathan spent his days practising his manoeuvring task to fly because he was different from others in the community, for this act he was ostracized and ultimately banished. Even at that, his vision did not diminish. His parents were not left out from those opposed to his objective in life. They wanted him to conform. When Jonathan eventually left the colony he did not give up his dream because it was so important to him. In the course of ascending this ladder of greatness and fulfilment, he was orderly and meticulous in training. As he mastered one task he took up more difficult tasks until he mastered them all. This does not stop him from practising until he achieved self-mastery. Jonathan then became a part of a new community, one comprised of other seagulls that had been banished as well. Much later after he had been banished from the colony, Jonathan returned home because he wanted to see if there other seagulls that have been banished as well. He took them under his wings to his new community where he nurtured and coached them. He taught others what he had learned.

LESSONS FROM JONATHAN LIVING STONE SEAGULL

1. Life will never give you deserve but what you decide. Even when things were uncomfortable for Jonathan he did what he believed was the right thing to do. Sometimes following the crowd or majority might be misleading.

2. Vision is an act of seeing what is invisible to others. Because of the vision, Jonathan had he not settle for less “the world steps aside for the man who knows where he is going” Jonnie Walker is very true in this case.

3. Learning should be on go. A part of one’s lifetime. It is synonymous with growth. The moment one-stop growing, he begins to die.

4. Don’t hide your talent to appease others, use them to save the world. Even the parents of Jonathan could not constitute an obstacle to his talent. When he was done he came back to his colony to save the outcast like himself.

5. He makes sure he mastered the fundamentals of flight and built on it. Every talent or skill has fundamentals. The first step of becoming great is mastery of the fundamentals. One should be able to market himself/herself.

6. There is a need to have a mentor in life. Mentor guide and direct you through the part he/she has passed before now. He is familiar with the challenges and the solutions. After Jonathan was banished he had mentors who guided and advised him and was able to pay it forward.

Amos 6:1 "Woe to you who are complacent in Zion and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come". What is comfort? A pleasant feeling of being relaxed and free from pain. What is a zone? An area especially one which is different from others around it, because of its peculiar characteristics and purpose of its use. Comfort zone in this context is a situation in which you feel satisfied and in which your ability or determination are not being tested. You are operating below capacity. WHY DO PEOPLE REMAIN IN COMFORT ZONE. FEAR. Fear of the unknown. The saying, "the devil you know is better than the angel you do not know" is very popular among us. It is a complacency induced statement. That is to say, the same thing is done over and over again with no variation, no innovation, there Is unwillingness to take the risk. Forgetting that life itself is a risk, and the greater the risk the greater the returns or reward. Take, for example, any business organization that fails to diversify is planning to fold up shortly in an unpredictable business environment. Even in the spiritual life, we need to change the pattern of our prayers to suit our needs or condition. HABIT. The habit they say die hard. Sow a thought you will reap an action. Sow an action you will reap a habit. Because the thought you have sown is recorded in your subconsciousness you find it difficult to change your action. The same thing is done over and over again. There are good habits there are bad ones. The habit of being punctual in all occasions, being generous to all and sundry to mention but a few are recommendable. LAZINESS. Proverbs 22:13 the sluggard says," there is a lion outside I will be killed in the public square". And so he is indoors all day through. A lazy man will always have excuses why he must not do this or that, especially doing new things or taking innovation. LACK OF VISION Hosea 4:6 says, ‘my people perish for lack of wisdom/knowledge’. The fundamental factor of life is to know one’s purpose. We should always ask ourselves this question why are we here on planet earth. If you find yourself in a place be it office, church or school, ask yourself why am I here. If you don't know your purpose fulfilling the purpose will be difficult or unfulfilled. If you do not know where you are going there is every likely hood that you may not get to your destination. you must have a basic definite plane to fulfil your definite purpose otherwise you might go for what somebody else suggested. EXTERNAL FACTORS/ENVIRONMENTAL. At times one may be limited by certain factors beyond his control. It could be social, legal, economic, fiscal or spiritual. Physical environment and situation in one’s surrounding might be a militating factor. DANGER OF LIVING IN A COMFORT ZONE 1. Comfort zone is an enemy of one’s future. As you lay your bed today so shall you lie on it tomorrow whatsoever you sow today will determine to want you to reap tomorrow. The future is for those who prepare for it today. The preparation you make today determines whether the future will be pleasant or not. 2. It hinders success because no room is made for growth or expansion.Rather one relies on his past glory, referencing past achievements, giving past testimonies with none for the present or future 3. It is a stumbling block to destiny, be it human or organization.Rev. 3:15-16 says,” I know your deeds that you are neither cold or nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other. So, because you lukewarm-neither hot nor cold- I am going to spit you out of my mouth”. HOW TO BREAK LOOSE FROM A COMFORT ZONE 1. BE POSITIVE. Have I can do it spirit. Have a vision of where you want to be, set up a goal, pursue your goals with zeal and determination. Love yourself; admire yourself be unique to have a role model. 2. BE CREATIVE. Look at what has been done see if there is an area you can add value to what is already on the ground. Identify a human problem and find a solution to that problem. Be a problem solver. There are needs out there yearning for satisfaction. 3. SELF ANALYSIS Do self-analysis. Find out your strength and your weaknesses. Improve in your area of weaknesses Sustain your strength. 4. DEPEND ON THE DEPENDABLE GOD. Zachariah 4:6 “so he said to me, ’this is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel “not by might nor by power but by my spirit,” says the Lord Almighty if you rely on self you will fail if you rely on man you will fail. Reliance on God alone guaranteed success. PRAY YOUR WAY THROUGH Proverbs 16:3 commit to the Lord whatever you do and he will establish your plans. FAST WHERE POSSIBLE. When the need arises and prayer alone could not solve the problem, then fast. Mark 9:28-29, after Jesus had gone indoors his disciples asked him privately ‘why couldn’t we drive it out he replied, this kind can come out by prayer. BE GENEROUS Build for God, pay your tithes. Anyone that builds for God never regrets that he did.. Examples of such people are King Solomon, Nehemiah. Put smiles on the faces of people, help orphans, widows, and the needy. By so doing you are laying your treasure in heaven. Matt 6:19&20 CREATE TIME FOR YOURSELF. All work and no play make job man a dull boy. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Once in a while create time to relax with your family. It is when we have succeeded in breaking out of the comfort zone that we can move into the safety zone. That is the Zone NOAH and his family moved into. While others died in their comfort zones.Noah and his family were saved. It is my prayer and the wish of God that none of his children will die in their comfort zone.

MARK ZUCKERBERG

This is the brain behind Facebook, one of today’s social networking tools that is most popular and a force to reckon with in the social media industry. This journey started when he was a sophomore at Harvard. The name stems from the paper facebook that is given by certain schools to freshmen during orientation. The name (thefacebook.com) was dropped as the site grew in popularity. It expanded to include other ivy-league schools such as Stanford and Yale than to high schools and Companies such as Apple Inc and Microsoft. In 2006 Facebook became open to everyone 13 years and above with a working email address. Big players such as Yahoo, Google have approached Facebook, whose internal projected wealth is above 8 billion dollars. He is not done yet, according to his statement, quoted below, he has more to offer to his generation and generation to come.

"When I started Facebook, one of the reasons I cared about giving people a voice was that I thought it would empower my generation -- which I felt had important things to say and weren't being listened to enough. It turned out it wasn't just my generation that felt marginalized and needed more voice though, and these tools have given the power to lots of different groups across society. I'm glad more people have a voice, but it hasn't yet brought about the generational change in addressing important issues I had hoped for. I think that will happen this decade."

Mark Zuckerberg is a philanthropist to the core. Apart from his talent which he has made available for all and sundry to benefit from, he has also donated cash to assist humanity. In 1995 The State of New Jersey declared the school system failure and seized control, replacing its elected school board with a state-appointed advisory board. The Facebook founder rubbed elbows with Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker at a conference and the two discussed ways to improve Newark’s schools and put them back in the hands of their host city. Needless to say, they concluded that a young billionaire’s donation would help.

When he and the wife-Priscilla chan - gave birth to their first daughter, they made a commitment to give away 99% of their wealth. They said, "we have a moral responsibility to build a better world for all children in the next generation, we want you to grow up in a world better than ours today". To pursue this objective, they set up a foundation called "Zuckerberg and Chan initiative" According to him, "In many ways, Facebook is a millennial company with the issues of this generation in mind. At the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, our focus is on very long term efforts that will primarily help our children's generation, like investing in curing, preventing and managing all diseases in our children's lifetimes, or making primary education more personalized to students needs. Over the next decade, we'll focus more on funding and giving a platform to younger entrepreneurs, scientists, and leaders to enable these changes."

I will not be wrong if I refer to Mark Zuckerberg- who is just 35 as a young billionaire. The net worth of Mark Zuckerberg as of January 2020 IS $80.7 Billion.- Wikipedia
